5? No way!

Today, Ryan turned 5. That's way more than it was supposed to be; I'd swear it. Cool when your birthday falls on Friday. He got a new soccer ball (which he did look at for a minute), a Spiderman watch (that he got to pick out himself), and a Cars game for his V-Smile game system (which has consumed him since he got it). It was a pretty exciting day, and he's even staying up late.

Wow, we forgot to get out the ice-cream cake. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

I hate 'The Crud.'

You know what's worse than vomiting for 5 days? Watching your infant son vomit for 5 days. I mean, even with the (almost) 5 year old, he gets it. He can understand, "I'm sick; I'm throwing up; this too shall pass." With the baby (well, almost toddler, whatever), there is no understanding. He just throws up and cries. Not to mention, he can't run for the bathroom. Just heave on the carpet, bedding, towel, or parent, depending on what's available.

But now it's over, until another of us gets it. But if we get it, at least we'll get it.

Another Saturday Night...

Saturday night, I helped out at a bingo parlor to raise money for my office. Let me just say that I have, in the past, thought that I might possibly have some small gambling issues.

Nope.

I saw some gambling folks on Saturday night. Along with the normal paper cards, there are computers that keep track of 54 cards at a time. I saw people there with 6 computers that were constantly running through the instant cards (like scratch-offs) that we were selling. There were people already there when we showed up. One of the more regular volunteers told me that those people had been there since 8:00 that morning. (Bingo apparently runs every 5-6 hours.)

And if you thought poker players and sailors were superstitious, you should come check this out. I was pegged as lucky by a couple of ladies; the color of the tickets were lucky or unlucky depending on the person and color; the position of the cards in my bucket was important for some reason...it was wild.
